PS4 vs. Xbox One Pre-Orders: Sony and Microsoft Sold Out Until 2014

"Reservations are currently closed for both the PS4 and the Xbox One and demand is high," said Gamestop spokesperson Jackie Smith to NBC News. "In fact, our 'first to know' mailing lists for next-generation consoles have more than 2.2 million subscribers!"
There will most likely be a few consoles at the stores during the launch, but will be sold out in seconds to camped out gamers.

"We do have inventory for launch day," Sarah McKinney, a spokesperson for Walmart U.S. said to NBC News. "It will be very select across our stores nationwide. There's nothing you can do to guarantee them right now."

Sony is thankful for the great responses they have been getting for the new console.
"Consumer reaction to PS4 has been phenomenal. Our retailer partners have combined for over 1 million pre-orders worldwide to date, so it's clear that people can't wait to get their hands on PS4. We will try our best to meet all demand needs, but it's very possible that demand will outstrip supply at launch," Sony told the news site.

Microsoft, while happy with the sales, is urging customers to try and secure a console as quickly as possible because they are already sold out until after the holidays.

The PS4 and Xbox One have each had a number of changes to their launch day exclusives over the last few weeks and at one point PlayStation 4 seemed poised to blow it out of the water, the Xbox One may have caught up.

PS4's launch day exclusives include: Killzone: Shadow Fall, DC Universe Online, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Warframe, War Thunder, Contrast, Blacklight:Retribution, Escape-Plan, Flow, Flower, Pinball Arcade, Putty Squad, Resogun, SoundShapes, Switch Galaxy Ultra , DC Universe Online, Skylanders SWAP Force, Super Motherload, Tiny Brains, and Warframe.

Xbox One's launch day exclusives include: Dead Rising 3, The Fighter Within, Crimson Dragon, Forza Motorsport 5, Killer Instinct, LocoCycle, Powerstar Golf, Ryse: Son of Rome, Zoo Tycoon, and Zumba Fitness World Party.

According to Den of Geek, both consoles will have: Assassin's Creed IV, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Fifa 14, Just Dance 2014, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Madden NFL 25, NBA 2k14, NBA Live 14, and Need for Speed: Rivals.

Reports indicate that the Xbox One is gaining ground on the PS4 for pre-order sales in the U.S. as Microsoft's console sold more over the last month.

Sony has sold over 125,000 pre-orders since August 24, giving it a total of 725,000 in total for the U.S. reports Forbes. In that time frame, Microsoft has sold 175,000 pre-orders, but still lags behind with 525,000.

"Week one sales for both consoles in the US are expected to be pretty similar," VGChartz reports in a blog post. "At the current pace the PlayStation 4 should sell just over one million units, while the Xbox One should sell just under one million units."

The PS4 will launch on Nov. 15 and the Xbox One will arrive on Nov. 22.
