Huey and Riley are back!
The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder collaborated with Seung Kim, a former animator on the Cartoon Network adaption, to create several new comic strips, reports Hype Beast. McGruder released them via Charlamagne Tha God’s Instagram account on Tuesday.
“Did these for fun (and to see if I still could),” the strips’ captions read. “More to come … exactly how much more is tough to say. These strips were only possible due to the enormous talent of my good friend Seung Kim, who did the animation for the old show – and he’s a busy guy. Thanks to him and thanks to Charlamagne for putting these out for me while I get my Instagram act together.”
The strips address several timely topics including #Mute R. Kelly and Robert Mueller’s investigation of the Trump administration. Several beloved characters reappear including Granddad, Riley, Huey and the infamous Uncle Ruckus.
The Boondocks was on everyone’s radar after Surviving R. Kelly hit the airwaves last month. Many were reminded of a 2005 episode of the show that was harshly critical of R. Kelly, his faithful fans and coverage of his child pornography trial.
